I don't know about you, but seeing so many lovely and perfectly styled patios online lately has left me feeling a little defeated.
You know the ones that look like the patio furniture is perpetually brand new like it's never actually been exposed to the elements outside.
I mean, who has the time to either clean furniture every.single.day, space to put all the cushions away when it rains or money to buy a new patio or conversation set every year?
Not me. And I'm pretty sure not you either. Who needs the stress?
Our patio furniture was a hand-me down set from a friend last year. We ONLY added a rug and a few pillows. Okay. And a few potted plants. But that's because I totally have a black thumb.
So let's try something. Let's embrace a bit of the wild imperfection that is the actual outdoors.
Pull a few weeds from between the patio stones, wipe the table when it's dirty, buy a couple of new throw pillows or an outdoor rug if you want to.
But live with furniture that's a little faded, don't expand the patio if you don't have the money yet, and don't keep up with the neighbors. (Who are the Jones's anyway?)
Simply enjoy the outdoors.
I'm not saying to sit on bird poo – for sure you should clean that off. I mean really, let's not be gross. And if your furniture is ready for the junk yard, then by all means replace it.
But pour the iced tea, invite a friend over and enjoy our short summers. They're always gone before you know it, right?
Okay so what I'm saying is all well and good. You're nodding your head in agreement.
Less work. Check.
Less stress. Check.
Enjoying summer. Check.
But what if it just gets to darn hot to sit outside, even in the shade? How do you make the most of summer patio living then?
This year Dean and I are extending our summer enjoyment with a Honeywell Outdoor Air Cooler. (See that thing between the bushes above?)
(Stay with me 'cause I want to give you one too!)
The other day it was so hot. Like stupid hot and sticky, hot. But we had friends over and REALLY wanted to sit outside on the patio.
Summer is so short, right?
So Dean filled up the air cooler with water and plugged it in.
Seriously you guys, it totally made the heat bearable. We sat outside for HOURS!
What is an Outdoor Air Cooler?
Honeywell’s Outdoor Air Coolers are powerful, energy-efficient cooling systems designed to help people keep comfortable outdoors in the hot summer months. Today, this technology has been packaged in various sizes for the convenience of consumers at their homes & vacation properties.
How do they work?
- Honeywell’s Outdoor Air Coolers use cold water and/or ice to blow cool air into the space
- Water is drawn from the tank through the filter and out of the fan to cool the air, cooling the temperature of the space approximately 10-15 degrees
- Continuous water supply connection, no need to refill water tank (48L and 60L only)
- The powerful fan is beneficial in helping to keep insects away (fan blows 1-2 meters from unit)
- Top loading ice compartment
- Great mobility with built-in wheels and light-weight
Do they use a lot of energy?
The units are quite energy efficient! The bestselling 48L model utilizes no more energy than that of a 150-watt light bulb. The 60L model uses 220 watts of power, and the 30L uses 288 watts of power.
Are they weather resistant?
Yes. They are made to resist outdoor conditions.
How much space do they cool?
- The 30L unit cools 320 square feet
- The 48L unit cools 610 square feet
- The 60L unit cools 850 square feet
Can you hook them up to a water supply?
Yes. The 40L and 60L models can be hooked up to a hose. The continuous water supply connection, large water capacity, and built-in overflow protection system allow for long periods of unattended operation.
