We've been talking about how to love your home for the last few weeks in our 30 Days to Love Your Home Series.
Sometimes it's as easy (or as hard) as a mindset change, just choosing to be grateful for the home you have. But sometimes your home truly needs a few things to look beautiful and function well.
So today, on day 24, we're going to look at…
Gifts for Your Home
Maybe your home has everything you need. Maybe it could use a few things to make it…lovelier. Here are a few of my ideas for gifts for your home. Maybe you can get it something good for Christmas this year!
We have several wooden bread boards at our house. They make great serving boards for not only bread, but also charcuterie platters, fruit and veggies and crackers and cheese dishes. Get yourself one or two nice once at a decent price from Amazon and they'll last you many parties and gatherings!
In my basement I have a stash of decor for different seasons. But I also keep a few things that can be used in any season. An everyday wreath (or two) is definitely one of those staple pieces that can help to make your home look more welcoming.
Trays are a decor staple and come in handy for corralling all sorts of things. We use trays for hair and beauty products in the bathroom, coffee and smoothie supplies in the kitchen, pretty decor in the living room and more. If you keep a few on hand you can make any surface look tidier in no time!
Okay, so it's no secret that I love throw pillows. What decorator doesn't? But my favorite throw pillows are the ones that can be customized like these name pillows from Porter Lane Home on etsy. We have a couple from them that I just adore!
Do yourself a favor and change out even just ONE light in your home to something you absolutely adore. Last year I was visiting California before we moved to this house. I was staying with several other bloggers at the beautiful lodge near Carmel-by-the-Sea. As soon as I walked in I noticed one of the light fixtures and become obsessed with finding one for our new house. I did and still love it to this day!
I think in general people have a thing for clocks. I mean they are necessary but they can also be really beautiful. I personally LOVE oversized clocks for the drama they add to a space. Plus they can be a focal point in a room all on their own!
Is it just me, or do towels and all manner of things seem to get left on the floor all the time by kids? We've mostly solved the towel issue at this house by mounting plenty of hooks in handy places like the entryway, bathrooms and kids' bedroom.
It's so much easier to love your home when it's not a mess all the time. Bins, baskets and crates can go a long way to keeping you organized – and clutter out of sight!
Chunky knit throws are so cozy and so stunning with their oversized stitches. But any cozy throw blanket will work wonders to making your home cozy and more lovely. (Stay away from wool if you don't love it's prickly nature!)
At each of our last two houses I've put hello and/or welcome decals on the outside as a greeting to guests and visitors. The funny thing is they never fail to greet me and make me smile too!
I'm sure there are other gifts for your home, but these are a few of my ‘must-haves'. Can you think of any others you'd like for your home?
