I have a confession to make.
As a DIY/craft blogger it's a tad embarrassing actually.
I've hinted at it before I think.
But I'm not sure I've ever come out and typed it here on the blog.
Before I tell you, dear friends, can you promise to keep a secret?
Okay. Here goes.
I don't use power tools.
Gah. It's true.
You see I'm a bit of a clutz.
I tend to get distracted easily – which isn't the greatest character trait to have when working with potentially dangerous tools!
And I have a Dean.
A Dean is like a super hero – only he's super good with tools and measuring and building things, instead of flying and catching bad guys.
He's a pretty handy dandy guy to have around.
But alas my brain comes up with more ideas than he can possibly find time to help me with. (He has a day job after all.)
Which leaves me with a long list of fun projects.
Like this sign.
I kept putting it off because my Dean didn't have time to cut the wood for me.
But I finally made it (as a gift, shhh)….because I found a great new line of crafty goodies at Michaels…signs that are ready to paint and shutters complete with base coat and hanging hardware plus lots of other good stuff!
Make Your Own Easy Painted Sign
- pre-primed sign board
- computer, printer, pencil, paper
- paint marker
1. Create or choose a word or saying. Size and print from computer. Or use our Muskoka template (click on image below to be taken to a PDF). Print onto multiple sheets if necessary.
2. Use the pencil transfer method to apply design to sign.
3. Fill in transferred word with paint marker.
4. Sand gently if desired.
Didn't I tell you it was easy?
And no power tools necessary for big chickens like me!
