Comments have always been important on a blog. I ADORE my readers who leave blog comments! Comments allow readers to share ideas and give feedback, and give more life to any blog. Unfortunately, it’s not always easy to get people to comment on blog posts these days, but here are 5 tips to help you get more comments on your blog posts.
5 Tips to Get More Comments on Your Blog Posts
1. Comment on other websites.
This may seem like a lot of work, but depending on your blog niche, you will probably receive more comments back from other blog owners. Also, in leaving a genuine comment, some sites allow you to link to your website. If your comment intrigues another reader, they might come and check you out.
2. Share your article on social networks and social bookmarking sites.
You can’t expect your readers to always share your posts. You will want to share your articles on social networks or social bookmark sites. Many of them are free, which allows you to get exposure to your website.
Pro tip: Add hashtags to your social share posts, like on Facebook and Twitter. Make sure to use hashtags that are related to your post, but also are actually used on the social networks. You can find out if the hashtag is active, by simply searching for that hashtag term on your preferred social network websites.
3. Have a newsletter, and send out your most recent posts to your subscribers.
A lot of bloggers don’t realize that a newsletter can be a great way to get readers coming back. You can send out recent posts, and ask your subscribers to come back and leave feedback. Personally I do this and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE when my readers leave me comments!
4. Create content that your readers are truly interested in.
While you’ve probably started your blog for personal reasons, you will need to keep your readers in mind. People are constantly searching for something, and if you aren’t covering any topics that your readers might be interested in, they may just skim your article, and then leave.
You can find out what people are looking for by searching sites in your niche, social networks, and even search engines. Also, if you’ve added Google Analytics to your website, you can see what people are searching for on your website, as well as what posts or pages they frequently go to. If they steer towards specific topics, you can create more articles around those topics.
5. End your blog post with an engaging question.
Once you’re almost done with your article, you should try leaving a question for your readers. This is a way to encourage and welcome anyone to leave feedback about your article. Make sure that question is thought provoking, and you can always include a few questions. No need to limit yourself!
Good luck with getting more comments to your blog.
