Are you all tired of our Living Room yet?
We’ve finally finished the piece that began this living room makeover: the great big, gifted, pine armoire. If you recall this is what we started with:
And then we made some small changes, like organizing the books, adding some blue and straightening up the shelves:
And then we revamped the coffee table:
And the armoire got painted a nice robin’s egg blue (a Behr colour match of a Beauti-Tone paint called Quayside 601-4):
But it still wasn’t quite right. We needed some new bling…er, hardware. We looked everywhere online and pretty much everywhere I could think of locally. It was much more difficult than I thought to find something that suited the armoire and the space. But finally we found what we were looking for at Lee Valley Tools.

Fortunately we live sort of near a store so I could satisfy my impatient nature and go and pick them up instead of waiting for them to be shipped. Yay! And my amazing hubby came to the rescue with drill in hand to put them on the doors and drawers for me.
So once again the before:
And…are you ready?
The armoire after (I’d love to not have the bookshelves, but we really need the storage):
So what you think of our mini makeover? I still have a few odds and ends to add, like a 50% off Goodwill lamp, which I will post about later. And we obviously have to redo the floors too, which will come as soon as we can do it. But it is much improved, yes?
(P.S. We love, love, love your comments and read every single one!)

The room looks great! Definitely much more light and airy. I especially like the beadboard on the coffee table. And isn’t Lee Valley great? I can spend hours in that store.

Wow, the after is a HUGE difference. The contrast of color really makes this space appealing and inviting. I think your decision to paint the pine was right on!

This looks fantastic, I have been thinking about painting my armoire as well and was alittle reluctant…. NOT ANYMORE!!!! I’m going to paint it a colour. Thank you for inspiring me.
Thank you Trishelle! We love it! It made such a difference and inspired us to add more colour (balanced by neutrals of course) to our home too. S.
Brand new reader.. love your make over
anxious to read some more…
If it were me, I would paint the shelves the same color as the pine hutch so it has a built in cohesive look. Love you site. Have a blessed day!
