Well, some Fridays we share five random things from our week. Things like fab etsy finds or family fun instagrams. Typically there’s no theme – one thing is NOT related to the next at all. Once in a while, we link the five things loosely to a theme. Like White Christmas. Or Back to School. Or Rubber Duckies.
Get it?
This week I’m going to open up and share five BIG aka design DREAMS. You know, like Miss Mustard Seed’s pie-in-the-sky dreams?
A little scary, yes.
Big breath.
First of all, when I started this blog I did do it with the intention of it being a small business. I really did. I love design, decorating and DIY. I love to write and talk and share. (Um, hello!)
I thought if all those other bloggers can do it, why not me too?
So I’ve read, studied & worked really hard and…
I’ve met my dreams of adding a couple hundred dollars a month to our family’s income. Without leaving my kids. At the same time as I work alongside and spend time with my hubby. Which is really very cool.
I wrote an ebook. A short one at 50 pages, but an ebook nonetheless.
I have also been surprised by a few dreams-come-true that I didn’t really anticipate. They were just so out there. They happen to other people. You know?
Being on tv and mentioned in magazines – four at this point – actually seems like pure craziness!
But total blessings at the same time. And I’m really thankful.
_____
Okay, here we go with the big dreams…be kind, okay?
1. I love this blog and I want it to continue to grow and flourish. I want to tweak my writing and photography skills. I want to bring you ideas and projects for your home. I want to connect with you and answer your questions. I want to share even more projects and doable ideas!
_____
2. I’d like to write a regular DIY column for a shelter mag. Full of affordable projects that people would actually make, like our headboard, unstencilled unbarnboard, burlap banner , cinderella pumpkins and others.
_____
3. I’d love to have a paint collection. It would be full of delicious shades of white, grey and taupe, like the ones we’ve used in our own house. Plus a few gorgeous colours thrown in. But they’d all coordinate. They’d all go together. So you could use them together without any ugly consequences!
_____
4. I might like to do more TV stuff. But I’d have to get over my stage fright and dislike for early mornings (ack!) first!
_____
Miss Mustard Seed’s upcoming book
Young House Love’s upcoming book
5. I’d love to write a book. A real book. Like a put-it-on-your-coffee-table book. I hear it’s a tonne of work. But I think it would be oh so fabulous!
_____
Well, that’s what I’m dreaming.
(Letting big breath out…sighhhhhh)
A little out there? Perhaps. But perhaps not.
I guess time will tell.
What dreams do you have? What stopping you from going after them?

Maybe it’s time to take one of those dreams and add in an action plan and a deadline- make that dream a goal!! I cant see why you would run into problems doing any of these things if you want!

You’re very right, Casey!
I think dreams – big or small are important to have – wonderful things are more likely to occur if you dare to dream them first!
I’m sure you’ll achieve them all!

I agree. Dreams are a great starting place!
Shannon, LOVE this! The older I get (turned 40 last week!) the more I get excited about dreams! I know that we were intended to live this life to the fullest! Dreams aren’t just for the “special” people to achieve. They are for us – the common, ordinary people! The older I get, the bigger I dream! If you don’t dream it, chances are it will never happen. So DREAM! (And, then follow it with all of the hard work that it takes to achieve those dreams!) I am new to blogging and am still trying to figure out exactly what my dreams look like. I have a few in mind. . . I will be ready to share them soon. I am encouraged to dream bigger when others share their dreams. Life to the full to you!

Happy birthday!
They say a goal not written down is just a wish…good for you for turning some dreams in to goals! I, for one, am not brave enough to do even that much…yet
I look forward to seeing your journey in realizing some of those dreams! Don’t forget us little people when you’re big and famous!

There are no little people in my opinion…we’re all special and we all have our own unique things to offer! Dream, Korrie, dream!
Ooohh, I hope you can get your paint line going. That would be awesome. The shades you mentioned are so hard to find just the right one. And all the other dreams too, I’m just thinking selfishly here.:)
Shannon, I am a firm believer if you believe in your dreams you can make them happen. I have my fingers crossed that all your’s come true
Have a wonderful weekend! x

Thanks, Danielle!
You are well on your way to achieving your dreams. You have them written, and like one of the other comments, put a date to it. I have several dreams, but the one that keeps growing more and more in my heart is to have some type of a crafting store (preferably online). Maybe one day I can figure out how to make it happen. I love your blog. You have an incredible talent.
Thank you, Kim! Keep working on your dream…I’m sure you’ll figure out a way to make it happen!
I agree with Kim, love to see more of your work being featured on magazines and tv as well
You’re a great inspiration Shannon! Keep doing your thing girl
