Okay, question time…who has heard of (or read) the American-made magazine FOLK?
I know, we’re Canadian and we LOVE Canada. But many of you are American. So we thought it would be okay to have a look at this American-made magazine. Make sense?!

If you’ve never heard of it, or didn’t know, FOLK is released 6 times per year. Issue VII marks the launch of their second full year in print (Happy Birthday!). They strive to support American small business, American production, and entrepreneurship. And they are quickly becoming ‘the’ American-made magazine! Subscriptions are $25 and can be purchased via paypal or check/money-order.
After previewing the Autumn 2012 issue, I’ve just got to share some of my favourite things about FOLK with you:

The Photos. Oh my goodness! The eye candy is sensational. From the breath-taking nature shots to the creatively-shot recipes to the totally doable DIYs, FOLK is FULL of beautiful photographs.

A little bit of Canada. One of our favourite bloggers, Donna (yes, of Funky Junk fame), writes for FOLK. In this issue, she shows step-by-step how to make curtain rods – from PIPES! #industrialgorgeousness!
- The Recipes. To be honest, I don’t normally like recipes in my ‘pretty’ magazines (I know, so random). BUT I have to say that the Roasted Peach Sherbet, Autumn Pumpkin Bars, Thin Pear Tart and CARAMEL JAR (um, yum!) in the Autumn 2012 issue have me convinced I need to get cooking! Like NOW!

The Ads. Yes, I said the ads. I want to go and visit every single website and shop because the ads are so pretty. For reals! You’ve got to see them.

The Time Worn Pumpkin DIY. I. want. to. make. this.
-
The Storytelling. And the story telling through photography. Like the story of Jeanne Oliver’s vintage-inspired handbag collection. STUNNING!

SO MUCH MORE. I could go on, but I want you to see for yourself!
I think this is going to quickly become one of my favourite magazines!

I don’t know which I would love more in this beautiful magazine, the recipes or the craft project, but you had me at Pumpkin Bars!!!!!
Decorating is my favorite thing to do and I’m always on the lookout for new magazines for inspiration. A friend and I do the decorating for our church. So for every season we try to come up with something different and interesting. Fall will soon be here so we are on the lookout for ideas. The best part is the fun being together and sharing what we have seen or read about. So this magazine sounds so awesome! Would love it.
Would love to have a subscription to FOLK! It looks like a great magazine & I am a magazine lover for sure. I hate having to get rid of them but eventually they start taking up too much space, so I have let a couple of subscriptions expire.
