If you recall, we mentioned that there were going to be several projects involved in getting the Pink and Green Girls’ Room Redo done. One of the projects was a Memo Board where the girls could put birthday cards and photos, etc. We actually made these little gems last night. They turned out really cute, yet were so simple and inexpensive to complete. We even decided to make a memo board for our son’s room too!
We’ve seen these made with mdf before, but we used dollar store canvases and foam. (Remember we used small dollar store canvases in our DIY Fabric Art here). This made the project really cost-effective – especially since we were making three memo boards, one for each of our kiddos.
The first step was to gather all the needed supplies: canvas, foam (we used the puzzle piece type from the dollar store), fabric (enough to cover the canvas plus about an inch on each side, I used quilt squares), coordinating ribbon, coloured thumb tacks, staple gun, staples, iron, ironing board, scissors.
After all of the supplies have been gathered, iron the fabric to remove any lines or wrinkles.
Then, similar to the fabric art project we diy’d before, lay the canvas upside down on the upside down fabric.
Starting on one side, staple the fabric to the canvas frame. Wrap the corners like a present and staple.
Next, cut the foam puzzle piece to fit inside the back of the canvas frame. This is to help hold the thumb tacks in. (As mentioned, you can used a piece of wood or mdf instead of the canvas and the puzzle foam).
Lay out your ribbon where you would like it and secure with thumb tacks. We chose to do a simple grid pattern.
Finally place a thumb tack at each intersection of the ribbon. And there ya go! The finished memo board. (Please do not put the finished Memo Board within reach of small children because of the thumb tacks).
P. S. Stay tuned this for our kids’ room reveals coming soon!

LOVE your memo boards! They’re so cute — and wonderful fabric!!
LOVE it! You did a great job! And thanks so much for stopping by today!
These are so cute, Shannon. Where did you get the canvas? Miss you guys!
Hi Jenn,
Thank you. The canvases came from Dollarama! Miss seeing you too! S.
