DIY Link Party #39 & Life

**Warning: this post contains things from real life!**

So after all our Acheson Family Reunion celebrations/craziness last week – which I may or may not have mentioned - a bunch of us got the stomach flu. Blurgh. Which, while the rest of the family seems to have bounced back lickity-split, I am still in bed recovering from.

And…

The dog is sick again. Dean’s picking up some apple cider vinegar and yogurt on his way home. Me thinks she has a bladder infection.

The house is a disaster. I just don’t have the energy to clean it.

The flowers in the window boxes died and the front grass is crunchy like straw. But the hose is broken and we haven’t had time to get a new one. (I’m sick in bed – it could rain NOW!)

_____

AND worst of all (making all the rest seem utterly silly), I got some VERY sad news this morning about an online friend, Tara of Lauren Lane Decor.

Apparently she died suddenly on Sunday after a terrible accident. We never met in person, but from my chats with her online, she was one of the sweetest people ever. She was so passionate and driven to make her business a success. As far as I could tell she was following her dreams and living a life full of creativity. Something we should all strive to do.

I know she will be missed – just look at that smile.

My heart goes out to her family and friends.

_____

So, friends, life is wonky around here. But not to be taken for granted.

While we process, do share your creativity, m’kay?

A Little Something in the Meantime whipped up some bathroom artwork over the weekend.

Number Fifty-Three added some bling to a small space with a vintage door knob.

How to: Home completely made over a boring balcony on a budget.

  7. I am so sorry to hear of your friend and so sad for her family and friends. Reminders of how precious and life is and how fast it can change make me stop and take stock of how very good my life is, even when it is not so good in the moment. I hope you feel better soon, ugh, bladder infections. Much fun for being a woman sometimes! Thank you for soldiering on and hosting the party. I hope you feel better by the time you see this comment. -K
