I mean rain showers, of course!
Little-by-little we’ve been working on numerous curb appeal projects to make this…
A little more pretty!
So far we’ve laid a country cottage type flagstone walkway – we’re just waiting for the grass to green up. We’ve expanded our garden and planted several new plants – but we need some finishing touches. We’ve started applying some gorgeous stone veneer to our concrete foundation.
A sweetheart of a blogger friend gave me the perfect black barn star similar to this one…
To replace the one that someone stole off the front of our house (true story!). You can be sure Dean will be firmly securing this one to the house!
Tonight we’re going to pick up a kijiji find for the front porch that looks a little like this:
I’m going to give it a new coat of paint, so don’t you worry, it’ll be much prettier soon!
Since I was looking at pretty wicker chairs, that got me dreaming of some vibrant pillows, like these…
But I finally settled on this graphic print from Land of Pillows…
So that’s what we’ve been up to! What have you been doing? Has it rained where you are? How are your gardens? Anyone else working on some summer curb appeal?

I love your ideas so far! I’ve never considered putting a stone veneer on a foundation, but that is a great idea. We’ve recently redone our front landscaping, and yes it has been between showers. It seems that all it ever does in the northeast U.S. is rain lately.

It was super dry and crazy hot here for weeks and now it’s rained off and on for several days. Funny spring!
LOVING that flowery kaleidoscopey fabric! The colors look like they could work in my living room!
Such pretty pillow options – indoors and out!
Pillows in those colours will really make things pop.

I know, right!!! My neighbors must have thought I was nuts, wandering around while I was looking for it!
Can’t wait to see it!
I can’t wait to see it finished either! Ha!
Hi Shannon,
I live in Mississauga and work in Toronto and have discovered your blog quite recently. I am so happy to see a Canadian design, DIY blogger!
I just wanted to let you know that the very same fabric you have pictured above from the Etsy shop ‘Land of Pillows’ is available in Fabricland in Empress Walk, North York. The store is closing and they have all their fabrics marked down. The above fabric is an outdoor fabric and looks as brilliant as in the picture above and they have many many more to chose from.
Just thought I’d share this with you!
Thanks you SO much for sharing that!!! I’ve already ordered the pillow…but may see what else is on sale at Fabricland nearby! Enjoy the sunshine this morning!
Love all of your ideas here! Good luck securing your star this time, its really sad what people will do today. You must have been so bummed to see it gone one day. I love the red and white trellis print you chose! Have a great week

I was even more bummed when I figured out no one around here sells them anymore! Super thanks to Kim of http://www.restoratiohouseblog.ca for giving me hers so I didn’t have to spend $40 to have one shipped to me!
Great plans! Red makes such an impact and the patterns are fantastic. Looking forward to seeing the end result. Food for thought: window boxes would look so nice on your home. Your windows are the perfect height (and I’m sure you would have no problem whipping some up;)!
Did you see the barnboard concrete slabs featured in the Home Hardware flyer this week? Saw them and thought of you:-)
