If you guessed that our post from yesterday was about our new headboard, you were right!
Once upon a time we had a bedroom set, but we were newlyweds and we cheaped out and bought something ultra modern – and frankly just plain ugly. Way back when we didn’t know anything but buying a matchy-matchy set from a department store. We sold that set about seven years ago…and hadn’t replaced it since!
We attempted a diy headboard last year with some cupboard doors, but didn’t take the time to frame it out as nice as we could have. Like the one at Remodelaholic seen below. Gorgeous!
Instead we just slapped them up on the wall. The poor pillow choices didn’t help – I was trying to work with what we had been given. Call me stumped for a few months.
Until I saw these…
And instantly I knew that was the look I wanted for our own oh-so-difficult to decorate master bedroom. Call it what you will, modern country, rustic, cottage. I loved it. It made me think of somewhere I would want to go to relax. Which was definitely what this homeschooling, blogging mom of three wanted in a master bedroom!
I ordered a gorgeous burlap glitter (ME? Glitter?!) and satin penant banner from etsy’s funkyshique boutique. It just happened to arrive the same day I stained the headboard. LOVE!!!!

The whole room isn’t finished…in fact the wall opposite the bed is a mess with piles of stuff. But this side sure is pretty! I adore the stained headboard and the texture of the burlap and the satin. Ahhhh. Happy Momma!
