I’m pretty sure I promised you guys an inspiration board for our master bedroom awhile back. Didn’t I? Perhaps not? Am I imagining things? Well in any case, that’s what today’s post is about, so lucky you!
First a little refresher (as always, right?). Our sixty-eight year old war-era bungalow was only a two bedroom when we moved in. That’s fine for a young couple or maybe a small family. Not so much for our family of five…and our three kids aren’t toddlers anymore either. They are bigger which means they play bigger, fight bigger and plain ol’ just mess bigger. (Yup, say goodbye to the good English.)
Not to worry though, we had a plan.
Since the house already had an addition at the back, which functions perfectly as a living and dining room, we turned the original front living space into a master bedroom. Now it’s not huge by any stretch, but we can fit several pieces of furniture in it aside from our bed. And it does have a {small} walk-in closet to which we added our own custom built-ins.
The closet is finished and painted and even has trim and crown moulding. The rest of the bedroom? Well, not quite. It still has unfinished drywall and no trim on the new walls and the old paint and trim on the original walls. Oh and some seriously country carryovers.
Needless to say, we have some work to do.
Here are a few favourite inspiration photos that I’ve collected from the web:

From all of these images (and many many more, believe me) we get our Inspiration Board:
-
Main wall colour PPG 510-3 Scotch Mist – a lovely taupe colour. First accent colour Beauti-Tone 601-4 Quayside (the very same colour as our tv cupboard redo). Second (minor) accent colour Beauti-Tone 4C2-1 Warm Sunset. Warm Sunset is a little on the dusty salmon side, but as a third accent it is quite pretty.
-
Fabric accents will come from one fabric that ties all of the colours together, like this vintage looking ‘chick‘ fabric, and a couple of other fabrics. Shown is Loopy Lou in both Robin’s Egg and Chocolate (not really a chocolate colour at all) from Tonic Living.
-
A collection of white and silver pretties to make a beautiful vignette.
-
Recycled/salvaged door on barn track for the closet like the one over at Whisperwood Cottage. We’ve talked about this for ages.
-
Some sort of diy headboard. For a great collection of headboard inspiration go visit Jen at Tatertots and Jello.
-
Our refinished step-back-style cupboard to be used a linen closet (I’m still painting it in case you’re wondering).
-
White. Cozy. Bedding.
-
White dresser for a nightstand.
-
Curvy white bedside lamps.
-
And a gorgeous white and crystal chandelier to top it all off.
So that’s it. Our Master Bedroom Inspiration Board. What do you think?
