In our small bungalow, there is no room for a full home office. So, while I wait for the opportunity (translation: finances) to do the built-ins I would like, I have this temporary ‘office’ that Dean put together for me.
Basically it is a piece of pine mounted to the wall with supports and a floating shelf from Ikea. This small space needs to contain all the usual stuff to run a home; bills, files, phone, computer, etc. It also needs to house the majority of our homeschooling books and supplies too. Up until now, these things have been in different places throughout the house. But I like everything to have a ‘proper’ place. Not to mention that I was tired of paying bills at my computer and then taking them to the bedroom to file them.
However, since this space is actually in our dining room, it needs to look a little more appealing than just your typical desk space. So I spent a few hours making it look like this:
